HARP visit to The Chickenshed Theatre
On Thursday 5th December, HARP had the awesome opportunity to visit The Chickenshed Theatre in Southgate and watch me perform in PAN (Peter Pan). The show is a musical that consists of about 200 actors with a stunning set and props such as a massive pirate ship that gets wheeled onto the stage. I play one of the many pirates that accompany the evil Captain Hook and honestly, it is the thing that I enjoy doing most of all.
I have been at Chickenshed since about 2022 and since then, I made tons of friends and learned lots of new things. The teachers there are very understanding and friendly and every time I am there, it feels like home.
After the show finished, everybody in HARP flooded the foyer and at that moment, I felt like I was floating – LITERALLY!
Everyone in HARP were so proud of me and I was surrounded by a sea of familiar faces galore as I was high-fived and greeted with happiness. Julie was almost in tears as she hugged the juice out of me!
For those who don’t know about Chickenshed, it’s an inclusive theatre company where anyone is welcome, regardless of age, ability and race. Today, they are celebrating their 50th anniversary, and fifty years ago, the theatre started out as a small chicken shed – hence the name! They recently held a vote for this year’s Christmas show and PAN was voted by more than 2000 people!!!
PAN is on until the 11th January 2025 and the cast is divided into five alternating rotas: Blue, Red, Purple, Green and Yellow, so make sure not to miss the magic because when it’s gone, IT’S GONE! For more information visit: https://www.chickenshed.org.uk/
