Welcometo HS6

At HS6 we believe that young people have a right to a happy, safe and stimulating learning environment. We always aim to ensure that every student is able to achieve their potential academically, socially and emotionally. Our lively 6th form offers a personalised, innovative and stimulating post-16 experience. We offer a wide range of opportunities to gain qualifications and develop first class skills for employment and further study. This is done through a variety of avenues.

What I love about HS6 is that we have a very tight community. It doesn’t matter what you are studying, everyone knows is each other and the student relationships are strong. There is a friendly and welcoming environment which allows for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Furthermore, HS6 students, including myself, are very appreciative and fortunate to have such understanding and cheery teachers who take consideration our strengths and stresses. They put us ease. I study English, Sociology and Psychology which are all challenging but interesting and entertaining to learn.

I am really enjoying my A Level pathway. The teachers are welcoming and have made the curriculum really engaging.

I have had lots of support with UCAS from guidance about UCAS and how to apply to university to support with my personal statement.

There is a significant amount of support in KS5 from the course teachers but also other staff around the school. Teachers always give up their time to offer support and guidance. They have also presented me with opportunities to develop my interests and experience within my chosen career path. For example, I have completed work experience with the PE department and have also been connected to clubs outside of school by school staff. I am really grateful for this help; it has been really motivating and has enabled me to focus on my aspirations.

I have really enjoyed my 6th Form experience so far. It took a bit of time to adjust to the increased work load of level 3 subjects but I feel that I managed this well.
The community aspect of school life has been really enjoyable; I have volunteered at a number of school events, such as: The Community Iftar, Open Evening, Sports Day and the Sixth Form Open Evening. My confidence and communication has been greatly improved through this opportunity. My HS6 experience will have a lasting impact on me.

The KS5 curriculum is challenging and demanding but the the smaller classes make me feel more connected to my teachers, and in turn, this has made the curriculum more accessible.
