Religious Education
“Are we human beings having a spiritual experience, or spiritual beings having a human experience?” Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
Religious Education at Hendon School aims to teach students about diverse lifestyles and world views. We encourage students to develop their own views; to speak and write articulately about their own backgrounds and experiences. Our department adopts a multi-faith, non-denominational approach to RE in which students learn about the major World faiths, including Christianity and Islam (which are studied in more depth in the GCSE course.)
Students have 2 lessons over 2 weeks.

Progression pathways and careers
AAll students complete Religious Studies as part of their Key Stage 4 curriculum. As a result students are well placed to go on to study Philosophy and Ethics but also subjects such as Law, Politics, Theology, Psychology, Sociology and Classics at A-level and University.
People with Religious Studies/ Philosophy and Ethics go into a range of careers including law, civil service, local government, education, journalism and business.
However, having an understanding of different religions and those with no religion is useful for all living in multi-cultural Britain.
