OCR Cambridge Nationals in ICT

Assessment Details: Assessment is through 3 pieces of coursework which has to be produced for each unit studied. One Unit is mandatory.  There is one written examinations.

Course Outline: ICT skills are essential for success in employment and higher education, and are among the fundamental transferable skills required by employers. Cambridge Nationals deliver these skills across the whole range of learning styles and abilities, effectively engaging and inspiring all students to achieve great things.

Units

The units studied will be-excel

  1. R001: Understanding computer systems
  2. R002: Using ICT to create business solutions
  3. R003: Handling data using spreadsheets
  4. R009: Exploring computer hardware and networks

Skills / Aptitudes required to be successful in this course:

An interest in the Computer industry with a possible desire to enter employment in this area. You should enjoy using computers to research and produce material. You must also be interested in the technical aspect of how the computer works.

Pathways – Career and /or further study possibilities, using this subject:  If a Merit grade is achieved then entry to Level 3 Cambridge Technical Qualification and then on to a degree in Computer science and entry into employment is possible.
