Course Outline:

Students are expected to have an interest in and a passion for analysing film. They will be taught how to analyse film texts thoroughly. They will sit an exam in Year 12 which will include essay style analysis of three set films, they will study these in lessons, and an essay style question on film in context. They will also complete coursework in the form of a text analysis on two films of their choice and a linked production text.   In Year 13, they will use the skills acquired in Year 12 to study foreign language film and a specific contemporary film issue topic.   They also undertake a critical investigation and a linked practical piece.

Skills / Aptitudes required to be successful in this course:

Excellent attention to detail, with an enthusiasm for media. A keen interest in the practical aspects of the media as well as the ability to analyse and apply theory.

All film industry jobs, many analytical careers and journalism
